Phuket transport

Getting around Phuket is pretty straightforward, with many different modes of transport available. You can easily rely on the sawngthaew, the bright blue public buses with their destinations plastered in English across the front. You can stop them anywhere on route, to get on or off wherever you wish.

For private hire, you can pick up a túk túk or a taxi, but you should agree on a price for your destination before you set off to avoid any discrepancies at the end of your journey.

If you want the freedom of self-drive, there are cars, jeeps and motorbikes for rent. These are great if you want to get off the beaten track, but remember that Thai's are notorious for their crazy driving, so be extra careful in the towns and insurance is highly recommended!
